The Westport Way

For more than a century, Westport has been a haven for artists, shaping a community that celebrates artistry. Widely known for being a 20’s hotspot with frequent visitors such as F. Scott Fitzgerald, the celebrity influence has added to the polish and charm.

Sam Gault

President, Gault Family Companies
"The community comes together in the heart of Westport. I always look forward to the amazing downtown events like the Fine Arts Festival and Library Book Sale, concerts and movies at The Levitt Pavilion and Remarkable Theater and holiday celebrations like the Memorial Day Parade."

Award-winning Farmer's Market with Famous Beginnings

Started by Michel Nischan and Paul Newman, whose activism influenced the town in many ways, the famous Westport Farmer’s Market is located along the Saugatuck River. It was named Best in Connecticut in 2020 by American Farmland Trust, ranking 10th best in the Northeast, and 26th best in the country.

Fueling the artistry is the MoCA Westport and the Westport Country Playhouse, both notable bustling non-profits known for their spectacular shows.

The Westport Country Playhouse’s vision is “to be a community hub for theater, art, ideas, and fellowship”. From its’ Grand Opening date in 1931 the Playhouse has included the participation of respected artists such as Stephen Sondheim, William Inge, Horton Foote, Joanne Woodward, Paul Newman, Liza Minelli, Gene Wilder, James Earl Jones, Jessica Tandy, Jane Fonda, and the list goes on. The productions are recognized as true artistry on a Broadway-level of perfection.

Enjoy music under the stars.

The Levitt Pavilion for the Performing Arts is a beautiful outdoor venue. Most concerts are free where you’ll discover new bands along with your favorite legacy musicians. Bring your picnic basket or enjoy Tapas at Basso Café right across the street. The experience is always a festive occasion with friends and family.

MoCA Westport is also known for the concert series, MoCA’s Music at MoCA, featuring a variety of genres and artists. Just next door to Westport is the Fairfield Theater Company, with no shortage of quality shows happening nearby.
